Should I use soil amendments in the planting hole?

Amend the soil in your garden as needed before you dig a hole for planting.  We don’t advise adding just to the planting hole. Add amendments based on your soil conditions: sandy, clay, or needing organic material. Mix in thoroughly and at least 6 inches deep in the area where you are planting.
