Why am I getting a "zone" warning at checkout?

We care deeply about your success in the garden and want every plant we send to have the best chance to thrive. During checkout, we compare the USDA hardiness zone recommended for each plant with the USDA zone for the shipping zip code. USDA zones are based on average winter temperatures and help indicate which plants are most likely to do well in a particular climate. If there’s a mismatch, it simply means that the plant may need extra care or specific conditions—such as protection from extreme cold or heat—to grow successfully outside of its natural hardiness zone.
